Vernon Reid's new album - "This Little Room" - (not released yet) is grooving in my head. Currently "A Liar's Shade Of Blue". Vernon is/was a Sony artist (p'tah upon the floor). Vernon was playing at Joe's Pub last night at 20.30, but after my closing address it was eight and a dribblingness was rapidly descending.
Today's milk from NYC --
David & I had breakfast this morning with Pharoa from Rapstation.com before going to today's Expo introduction from John Perry Barlow, followed by the opening address from Ice T. This afternoon we went out to Jersey to visit The Rosenbergs at the studio where they're recording.
This has been an exciting and informative day, but probably nothing as exciting as trying to get a taxi to take us from Midtown Manhattan to Jersey via the Lincoln Tunnel (aside: Vernon is burning). We interviewed two cabbies before riding with a third. We got out on being presented with a flat rate for a $10 ride to North Bergen - $58.50. Eventually we settled for twice the meter + toll.
